Ringleader is a DC area based 4 piece rock band. With a strong focus on songwriting and an engaging live show, Ringleader is making new fans with every performance. Ringleader's music is a combination of the indie rock sound of PJ Harvey and Liz Phair with the pop sensibilities of No Doubt and Garbage.
Formed in 2003 by Lena Esposito and Chris Brownelle, Ringleader spent it's first two years focusing mainly on writing and recording original material. Lena had previously been playing solo and had recently recorded her self-titled cd with Grammy-nominated producer Bob Dawson. Chris had previously been a member of DC area band Smartbomb, recording and playing the mid-atlantic region for several years. In the fall of 2004, Ringleader released it's debut 4-song ep and follow up ep "No Slide Guitar" in 2005. The band enjoyed many positive reviews of these releases and began playing area shows at such venues as IOTA Club and Cafe, Jammin' Java, and TT Reynolds In 2006 bassist Dean Perry joined the band and has been contributing to the writing and recording ever since. Dean grew up in Florida where he gained his chops playing in various projects at such area clubs as Hard Rock Orlando and Wall Street Plaza.
Ringleader then recorded a three song cd single in 2007 with producer Jim Ebert (Meredith Brooks, Marvelous 3). In 2008, Ringleader solidified it's lineup with the addition of drummer Eddie Anzueto. Eddie has played in numerous recording and live projects most notably Fairfax based Modern Yesterday, a band that achieved regional success after being signed to MCI's Jireh records
Ringleader is busy writing and will be actively booking shows in the coming months. They also finishing their first full-length CD to be released in the upcoming months.
